The 10 must-see sites in Isère

1-    Grenoble and the Bastille of Grenoble

The Grenoble cable car, also known as " bubbles ", connects Grenoble to its Bastille (military fort). Built in 1934, it is one of the first urban cable cars. Grenoble is surrounded by the Chartreuse, Vercors, Taillefer and Belledonne mountains. It is a "green" city with a well-developed public transport network and numerous bicycle paths. It is located 65 kilometres from our residence le Cristal de l'Alpe.

2-    The Chartreuse Massif

Although the Chartreuse is known for its green (or yellow) liqueur, which is drunk as a digestive at the end of a good Savoyard meal, it is also the name of a mountain range and a regional park. Discover superb hikes with family or friends in the heart of exceptional panoramas. This massif is to be discovered in summer as well as in winter.

3-    Lake Monteynard and its footbridges :

This lake will amaze you with its incredible turquoise colour! The Himalayan footbridges allow you to cross the lake and admire the different views: each footbridge is 80 metres above the lake and is between 180 and 220 metres long. You can also cross the lake by boat during the summer season. It is also a paradise for water sports enthusiasts who can enjoy sailing, canoeing, kite surfing and windsurfing. Located less than 75 km from the Cristal de l'Alpe, you won't regret the trip !

4-    The Emparis plateau

Classified Natura 2000, the Emparis plateau offers a breathtaking view. The GR54 runs along the entire plateau: by taking it you can discover the Lerié lake and the Lac Noir. If you go there in spring, the plateau will be covered with fields of flowers as far as the eye can see. Sit by a lake and have a picnic and admire the glaciers and the Meije in the background. You'll enjoy a truly timeless experience in the heart of a natural, unspoilt setting.

5-    The Grotto of Choranche

Discover this limestone cave which offers an absolutely magical spectacle between crystal clear emerald rivers and stalactites. At the end of your underground journey, you will discover the impressive Cathedral Room which will light up for you to the rhythm of a breathtaking sound and light show... During this visit of about an hour, you may have the chance to see protae: this cave animal is the biggest predator of the underground universe and can live up to 80 years! The Choranche cave is located in the Vercors regional park, so make a detour via the Bourne Gorges and the Presles cliffs.

7-    The village of Morestel

Stroll through the picturesque streets of Morestel, the city of painters. This ancient medieval village steeped in history will transport you back in time with its Saint Symphorien church, its medieval tower and its castle. You will also discover beautiful gardens and fortified houses..

8-    Walibi Park

Do you want to enjoy a moment of sharing with friends or family? Then come and spend a day in the famous Walibi theme park! Enjoy numerous attractions, activities, shows and restaurants within the park. Laughter and relaxation guaranteed !

9-    The funicular of Sainte Hilaire du Touvet

Unfortunately closed for the moment due to renovation work, the funicular will reopen for its 100th anniversary in 2024. The funicular runs along the Chartreuse massif for 750 metres up to the Petite Roche plateau. Once at the top, you will discover an exceptional panorama of the surrounding mountains. It is located less than 90 kilometres from the Cristal de l'Alpe residence.

10-The Magic of Automata Museum

Discover a magical and fairy-tale world in this museum covering no less than 1500 m² with 350 characters created more than 40 years ago. 90% of the animated automatons are made on site and each scene requires several months of work. This know-how is a real passion passed on from father to son.
