Alpe d'Huzes Challenge

Monday 1st to 5th June 2026

For cycling enthusiasts

Do you dream of a unique experience combining sport, solidarity and tourism? Don't miss the Alpe d'Huzes, the ideal event for cycling fans to take up a challenge while contributing to a noble cause. Imagine climbing the famous 21 bends of Alpe d'Huez up to six times, a legendary 14km climb with a vertical drop of 1,120 metres. With each climb, you'll be able to collect donations for the KWF, the Dutch national foundation for cancer research.
Since its creation in 2006, the Alpe d'Huzes has grown considerably. The last edition brought together 8,000 cyclists, runners and walkers, all united in a common spirit of solidarity. On D-Day, the road is alive from the first light of dawn with the constant coming and going of sportsmen and women determined to make a difference.
 
 

A festive and altruistic atmosphere

L'Alpe d'Huzes also has a unique atmosphere. The athletes, on their own or in teams, are accompanied by their supporters, families and friends, who cheer them on all along the 21 legendary bends. Costumes, songs and entertainment punctuate the route, creating an atmosphere worthy of the Tour de France. Solidarity is the fuel for all the participants, and giving up is not an option. Every pedal stroke helps to fund diagnosis and post-illness rehabilitation, with over €200 million raised to date.
 

Strong local support

The event enjoys strong local support. Le Bourg-d'Oisans saw life in orange at the beginning of June, with various initiatives such as the sale of thousands of roses by shopkeepers, a balloon release by school children, and the organisation of convivial evenings around a barbecue or a concert by the national orchestra of the Dutch police. This local membership contributes to the reputation of the Oisans and strengthens the links between the Dutch and French communities.
