As early as the 12th century, the Mont-Cenis pass became the main route to Piedmont, and in 1805 Napoleon had a road built linking Susa in Italy and Val Cenis Lanslebourg.

The legend of the dog Flambeau

Flambeau, the hero of Val Cenis, was for ten years the vaguemestre dog of the 99th RIA and 13th BCA, carrying the military mail between his post and Lanslebourg every day and in all weathers. He also saved lives. Mentioned in the regimental order, recipient of the Croix de Guerre, he has a track to his name. In the main street of Lanslebourg, a stele also pays tribute to him, erected in 1954 and engraved with a text by Roger Frison-Roche. At Les Chalets de Flambeau in Plan-des-Champs, a black-and-white photo of this legendary dog hangs in the reception area.

Easy to access thanks to the motorway, the station also benefits from a significant difference in altitude of 1500 m.

FAVORITES

The panoramic view from the top of the Met chairlift at an altitude of 2800m with a view of the Mont-Cenis lake below.

My favorite slopes: the Bois des coqs in Termignon, La Ramasse & l'Arcelle, hilly slopes with quite a drop but accessible from the average level skier to the expert.

Fun trails: the bear trail and the squirrel trail, these are forest trails that are reminiscent of Gymkhanas in winter, children and teenagers love it.
